I have had the privilege of serving as secretary, treasurer and the last four of which have been as chapter president. It’s been exciting, and a lot of hard work, but I have truly enjoyed my time serving as president and feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity.
Through this position, I have connected more with the community, discovered and improved my leadership skills, worked collaboratively with willing members, and made friends and connections with other colleagues locally and nationally. Though my term as president has ended, I can step down with confidence and look to our future, as I pass the torch to Dametria Robinson. Through her leadership and the amazing new administration, I know Black Nurses Association of Greater Houston will continue to support this community and further the mission of BNAGH.
Thank you to all of the sponsors and our community partners that have supported BNAGH during my term as president. I especially want to recognize Dametria Robinson for seeking sponsorships, Troy B. Smith for sponsoring scholarship funds for 2 consecutive years, and Nurseify for sponsoring 2 student scholarships. Your support and resources have given BNAGH the ability to produce continued community service and student scholarships. Thank you!
A special thank you to Regina Bailey for her selflessness and for being my biggest sounding board. In you, I’ve learned to smile in spite of.
Lastly, I want to encourage each and every one of you to get involved in any way that you can. BNAGH needs you to be the voice(s) in the community and help shape our collective future. This organization can only be as great as its members and those willing to participate. Only together can we ensure that everyone, not only in this organization but in business, government, the media and the public, understands the power and value of good health. We are stronger together.
Thank you all for your time and support over the years, and for years to come.
To God be the Glory for the things he has done.
All the best,
